Pi 4 Cooling Case + Better Thermal Tape

Afternoon, Well my pi 4 (4GB RAM) has been getting little attention seeing as Libreelec is not 100% stable for it but for work I was able to use it for a product that we sell (product needs a vm to run a java app to scan files and this is usually a VM) I was using a hacked pi 3 case as I had plenty around but as everyone knows (unless you are in bunker planning on Nuking Mars) the new Raspberry Pi 4 runs *Very* Warm. LeEco Le Pro 3 Battery Replacement

So my wife has a friend at work who is into there phones and like myself has an appreciation for all things imported. He has been having charge problems with his LeEco Le Pro 3, namely the phone would charge but battery drain was very high. After some checking it wasn’t a software issue (battery cycle count etc) so I said it probably needs a new battery. Imagine my surprise when the phone turned up at home to help swap the battery out…..happy days, never done one before and the…

3D printed Newton 2100 Battery….TBC

A good friend and I were stilling in the office one day reminiscing about the “old” cool technology we remembers in our younger days. Over a few days and some ebay’ing, there was an Apple Newton 2100 winging its way 😀 When the Newton 2×00 was originally introduced, it came standard with 4 x AA sized alkaline batteries that were loaded into a battery tray. Alkaline, rechargeable NiCd or NiMH batteries may be used. An optional rechargeable NiMH pack could also be purchased. Sometime after the initial introduction, things got swapped the…

Morning, just a quick post, while working  on a project for work I needed to get meta data from an FTP site, I didn’t want to download the while site and the tool we are working on at would can scan File Server but not FTP directly…..a little but of a pickle until I stumbled on curlftpfs for linux. Over the past few years I’ve been asked to have a go a fixing many a gadget so last week when a good friend as if it was possible to fix his Huawei P8 which has taken a beating, my default answer was “sure, let see how much the screen is”. Alba 7 Tablet AC70PLV4 Touch Screen Digitizer Glass Fix

Hi, so its been a while since I have posed anything. What with summer holidays, work (or change of work) and DIY around the house I’ve been busy and not posted (shame on me). So I love it when I can do three things, fix something that would normally find the bin, help a friend out and blog about it 🙂 Its not the most cutting edge piece of kit but the Alba 7 Tablet has just enough grunt to power videos for a friend son, it’s got 1GB of…

Moto G4 Play Screen Replacement (XT1607 XT1609) fix

This post as been sitting in drafts for a while so I figured I would get it sorted (all be it rushed). My brother had a Moto G4 Play with a cracked screen. I have replaced a fair few phone and tablet screens in my time so I figured it would be worth a try to get the phone back in action. I purchased the screen from Amazon for about £30 which was not too bad seeing as the phone is still worth about £130 and is a more than capable…
